Adventures in Potty Training

So far the past few months Brooklyn hasn't done anything in the potty...until today! I was so proud of her! She finally did both in the potty! Not only that she went in the bathroom on her own and went by herself (no reading tons of stories, no mommy coaxing...) Anyway, we have been talking going to the potty for the past little while in an effort to try to get Brooklyn potty trained (and of course using the two special words associated with that, I won't use the words but I am sure you all know what the words are that you use to describe what goes in the potty to two year old's) and when I was bathing Brooklyn tonight she has a toy that you put a little shampoo in and push a button and bubbles come out. I put some shampoo in it and she started saying "shampoop shampoop." I know I shouldn't have laugh but did. Bad idea. She kept saying it. Hopefully she forgets about it by tomorrow, but hey, at least I know something I have been telling her about potty training is sinking in, sort of. Then she decided she wanted to go potty again tonight, but she wanted to do it herself and wanted the door shut. So I told her I would shut the door but that I would be back in a minute. I walked away and then all of the sudden I heard her scream and cry so I ran back in there to find that she had gotten off her little potty and gotten onto the big potty, only she must not have realized that she usually has her little seat on the big potty, because she just sat on the big potty and fell in and she was stuck and her little bum was wet and she was so scared and was holding on for dear life! I felt so bad. She is just so tiny that big toilet seat just eats her up. I told her she needs to make sure to put her little seat on first (or hold onto to the sides really tight) next time. She did sit on the big potty again with her little seat so at least I know she isn't scarred for life. It would have made a pretty good picture but I am afraid if I would have taken time to grab the camera she may have been scarred for life.
As a side note-I think I should get the shirt in the above picture for Brooklyn (except that it costs $20, plus shipping.) That way people will know if we are in line to use the bathroom that they should probably let us go first, or if I am speeding one day I can show the officer her shirt and they will know why we were in such a hurry...(-:

  1. Potty training is such an adventure. And not a fun one. Good luck with it! :)

Call me please. I'd like to see if you can come join Kairy and I on Monday.
