My friend shared this quote with me...another friend of hers had a miscarriage and posted it on her blog. I wanted to post it on mine also, because it is so good and meaningful to me (as well as many others I am sure.)
"Learning to endure times of disappointment, suffering, and sorrow is part of our on-the-job training. These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are precisely the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character, and increase our compassion for others.
The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude."-Elder Wirthlin

Go BYU!
My cute BYU fans!
I tried to change Brooklyn's shirt today because she got it all dirty and she told me I couldn't change it because she really liked the shirt and she needed to wear it because it was the same as daddy's. (=
I was also able to attend the General Relief Society Meeting tonight with my mom and sisters and sister-in- law. It was great!

Shoes shoes shoes
We were at the store and Brooklyn saw some shoes she liked so she went right over and sat down and tried them on, all by herself! She thought they were so beautiful! She also liked the white ones you can see behind her, and she was very upset that she couldn't get them. I told her we would have to find her some dress up shoes that fit a little better. (Although I did think it was cute how her whole foot fit in the toe portion of the shoe.)

Picnic, Park, and Pice Cream
What is "Pice Cream" you ask? It is the stuff you get after going on a Picnic and to the Park of course! (=
Playing at the Layton Park after our picnic...(I know everyone is impressed with my alliteration skills!)

The merry-go-round
The slides
The swing
The swing picture I had to include to show the cool pictures you can take with a super slow camera...
The ducks who follow you everywhere, and the geese who I am pretty sure would attack you if you even smelled like bread (I am sure they learned from the seagulls)
Look out for the geese (and duck) poop!
And finally the pice cream. What a fun day!

Swinging with baby doll
Whenever Brooklyn goes outside to swing she always wants to take her baby doll with her. She has her do everything she does. The other day I guess the doll wasn't sitting in the swing like she "asked" her too and Brooklyn said to her "You have to listen, or do you want to go to timeout?" (I have no idea where she got that from. (-;
We also got some candy corn today, which Brooklyn has decided she loves, and that she refers to as "corny corn." (=
Yesterday I was also trying to explain her what a cousin was and I told her my brother and sister-in-law's little girl Taylee is her cousin. So Brooklyn asked if Taylee was my cousin too and I told her, no she is my niece because her daddy is my brother. And then Brooklyn concluded, "oh then Taylee is my sister." I thought it was funny but really the whole how everyone is related thing is kind a lot to learn.

Our little sweetheart
I just thought Brooklyn looked extra cute for church today so I took a picture. (Although in typical 2-almost-3-year-old fashion she wouldn't cooperate very well with the posing part.) Her little pigtails even went into cute ringlets all by themselves. (=
Shirts and Shadows
Brooklyn and I were at my parents yesterday and I forgot Brooklyn's PJ's so my sister let her borrow a shirt. Brooklyn loved it! She loved that it had words on it just like mommy and daddy (and aunt Stephie) and that it was like a dress.

When we got home she was walking around and said "Come with me shadow" to her little shadow. It was too cute!

Brooklyn's first birthday party
Brooklyn went to her first birthday party today. It was a tea party so she got to wear her prettiest dress. She had so much fun! This is her in her little Cinderella dress before the party.
And her official first birthday party invitation! She was so excited when she got it she kept wanting to hold it and "read" it. (=

Etc...
Brooklyn loves riding her bouncing horse. Sometimes I ask her if she is a cowgirl. This time when she got on her horse she said "I am a cowgirl, I say moo." I couldn't stop laughing. I guess I never actually told her that cowgirl doesn't really mean a girl cow.

At the mall "riding" the school bus ride.

Yesterday we got a Jamba Juices and then stopped at a little park to play. Brooklyn loved it and we had the whole park to ourselves! She loved the "big one" slide the most.

Other funny things Brooklyn has said lately...
"Yeppers" (Courtesy of my sister Julie)
"Yes-sir-ee"
"Kind of"
"Oh dear"
We went to Swiss days last Saturday. Curtis's mom sells her handmade quilts there so we were talking to his parents and his sister who were there. Brooklyn and I went for a walk and got a Swiss Taco (which reminds me a lot of a Navajo Taco but whatever...(= Anyway, I kept asking Brooklyn if she wanted more bites to try and get her to eat more. When I threw away the plate she said "No I want my bites!" And I just thought she meant she wanted to eat more bites, but the food was gone. We went back to Curtis's mom's booth and they asked Brooklyn what had to eat and she said "Bites." I guess she thought that was the food was called that we ate!
When Brooklyn does something I haven't seen her do before (or heard her say) sometimes I jokingly ask Curtis "Who taught your daughter that?" The other day Brooklyn was experimenting with new ways to play with a toy and Curtis and I were doing other things and all of the sudden Brooklyn said to us "Who taught your daughter that?" like she knew what were thinking and going to say about what she was doing...I am telling you even when you think kids aren't paying attention they are! Brooklyn surprises me everyday by remembering so many things I didn't even know she was paying attention to!

Swing and Slide
Brooklyn riding the carousel, right before we bought our new swing set!

We had a BBQ with some of my family on Labor Day ( which was actually week or so after we got the swing set,) but Brooklyn wanted to show everyone her new swing set. She just loves it! And she loves to take her baby doll outside to "play" on it with her. Whenever she wants to go play on it she doesn't tell us she wants to play on her swing set, she says she wants to go "swing and slide." She would stay on it all day (and all night) if she could!

My little mermaid
Brooklyn swimming and "watering" things. I think she was watering her little trampoline so it would grow into a bigger one (she keeps telling me she loves trampolines-and she has been on a few so she does know what they are.) She probably was watering the swing for the same reason...and if you look behind her in one in the pictures I think that one worked! We did get a little swing set for her and she loves it! This is probably one of the last swimming days of the year, so I was glad I got a few pictures!

Also, I just have to write down some of the funny things Brooklyn has been saying lately so I can remember them. She says "check it out check it out" a lot. She also says "Oh dear." There is something else but I can't remember it right now so I will have to write about it later. (=
