I love to see the temple

Brooklyn's new favorite song is I love to see the temple. She even sings most of the words along with me. She also loves I am child of God, and knows most of the words to that too. Tonight when I was putting her in bed she wanted to hug me while I sang it. That was just one of those wonderful moments that make life so great. (=

Brooklyn also loves Hakuna Matata from the Lion King and goes around singing "It means no worries..." in her cute 2 year old voice.

Daddy's Girl

I realized there are no pictures of Curtis and Brooklyn on here, and there should be since Brooklyn loves her daddy and loves to play with him! She likes it when he gives her shoulder rides, and when they run around the house tickling each other. Every morning when she wakes up she asks me if Daddy is at work, because she wants to see him. If she gets hurt or in trouble she always runs to her daddy. She is just a little daddy's girl!

Moms

I was reading my sister-in-laws last blog entry and she talked about all the "hats" women wear, and it reminded of the study someone did about how much women/mothers would get paid for all the different jobs they jobs they do. I couldn't remember the exact amount they said (somewhere in the 6 digits I know) so I searched online and didn't find the exact study I remembered but I found this website that is supposed to calculate how much you would get paid for all the jobs you do...It is is kind of fun...so all you moms can check it out...although I know we wouldn't trade our families for anything $! ( I think you will have to copy and paste the link, it didn't come across as a hyper-link...sorry)

"I can do it myself!"

So Brooklyn has reached the I want to do it myself stage. One of the things she has started wanting to do herself is get dressed. I took some pictures of this because it is just so cute. When she puts her socks on she pulls them up as far as they will go (the socks aren't really knee highs or thigh highs, they are supposed to be rolled down.) She also thinks it is easier to put both socks on one foot...I guess because when she tries to put the other sock on the other foot it keeps getting caught on her toes, so it is easier to put it on the foot that already has the sock on it, it slides on much easier (you should try it!)

This particular dressing she put her pants on all by herself, and she did great. I even told her there are 2 holes, one for each leg. So I went back to check on her and she had the pants pulled all the way up, with the foot holes as far up her legs as they would go, and the waist of the pants around her ankles. I have to hand it to her she listened when I said one hole for each leg...
She also likes to build really "tall" towers-all by herself (I am not allowed to help.)

And she likes to hide or run away when mommy wants to take her picture.

Random cute things
When we were getting ready to leave the other day Curtis told her to come
tell me she was ready to go and she came to me and instead said "Mommy I'm cute."

Also, whenever she gets dressed and has her hair all done she always wants to show daddy and daddy tells her-"Oh you look so pretty" Or "Oh you look so cute!" So yesterday Curtis was all ready for church and Brooklyn told him "Oh that's cute daddy" (telling him he looked cute in his church clothes too.)

"Why?" and Stickers

Today Brooklyn decided that it was time to start asking "why?" This morning I told her she needed to brush her teeth and she said "why?" and I said so you don't have stinky breath and so you don't get owies (cavities) in your mouth...and she kept saying "why?" She has done that with a couple other things today too. I don't know why (hehe) she started this but for now it is cute...I know that she will only start asking why more now and as time goes by it might not be as cute, but for now I am just enjoying her new "talent."
She also loves stickers, but has decided lately that she doesn't like to put them on paper. It is way more fun to stick them on clothes...mommy's clothes or her clothes (or even Daddy's if he will let her.) Today she decided to stick them all on her shirt (see pictures.) There were probably at least 50 of them.

Sunday

Today my sister Julie came to church with us. Brooklyn loves having someone around besides boring old mom and dad and she had fun with Aunt Julie!

Brooklyn's Bedtime

Brooklyn used to be really good about going to bed. We had our routine we went through every night and then she usually went to sleep pretty fast after that. The past week or so that has changed, and she either stays up in her bed talking, singing or crying (usually for mommy or daddy) for a little while. Tonight was a crying night, so I have been in there to see what she needs more than once. One time I went in and all she would say is Mommy mommy mommy...and I said Brooklyn you have to tell mommy what you need....she still wouldn't say so I said Brooklyn I don't know what you need unless you tell me so I need you to say something else. She was a quiet for a minute and then she said "something else." She is so funny sometimes! I still have no idea what she wants...other than me (or Curtis) to stay in there all night. Wish us luck!

Confession

OK, I finally have to admit it, I really like to watch American Idol. I didn't used to like it so much but I have started to over the past couple years. Most of the time it is pretty good. This season I was excited to see that the new judge was named Kara, but then when Simon (and other people) said her name I thought, "Oh no, now everyone will think that is how I say my name." But then they finally asked her how to say her name, and she said Kara (like mine-like Sarah or Tara but with a "K") I don't think Simon, will ever say it correctly, I don't know if it is his accent or just because he is stubborn. Oh well, it doesn't really matter that much, I was just excited that someone famous had the same name as me, and that she pronounces it the same as me, so hopefully there won't be so much confusion about that in the future. And PS, since this a family blog, I just want to add that Curtis likes to watch it too. (=

Funny things Brooklyn says lately

So lately Brooklyn has started doing things like dropping a toy on the floor, or ripping a page in a book and then she will say, for example, (even when I see her do it two seconds before) "oh someone ripped it..." or "someone dropped it." She always says "someone" when she does something. I try to tell her oh someone named Brooklyn...I am not sure why she does it, but it is kind of funny.
Another funny thing she has been doing is that every time we go to the store she manages to get my wallet out of my purse and unzip the change pocket and start pulling out coins and she says "I need monies." I always ask her why...I guess one day I will have to let her have some and see what she does with it.
One other funny thing is that if you ask her to say octopus or show her a picture of an octopus and ask her what it is, she won't ever say octopus, she always says "applesauce." At first I think it was because she thought they sounded the same and applesauce was easier to say, but now that she is a little older I also think she says it because people laugh and she likes the attention and the reaction.
What a funny girl! We just love her, she makes us laugh all the time.

OK so this probably should have been my first post, but I am very new to this whole blogging thing...so if our blog doesn't look very aesthetically pleasing that is my excuse. Hopefully I will learn as I go along, but for now this is going to have to do. Thanks Deb for helping me get started. Her blog is way better than mine so maybe I will get some more tips from her (and from all the other friend and family blogs I read that look so nice) and then my blog will look better. Mostly I just needed a place to keep a family journal (since I am not very good at keeping a regular one), and blogging is what everyone recommended, so here I go!

Snow Family!

This was Brooklyn's first time building snow people and playing in the snow.

She loved it!

We built a snow family instead of just a snowman.

. We built the family at Grandma Davis' house since she has a fence (and we don't.)

Brooklyn 2 Year Pic's

Brooklyn turned 2 Dec. 15...so these picture are a little late, but I still think they are cute!
She loves Eeyore!
